Five gunmen arrested near Kut

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Interior Ministry’s forces arrested five gunmen, including one wanted man, west of Kut city, according to a security source.

“The operation relied on intelligence tips,” Major Aziz Lateef told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The arrests took place in Delmaj area, 20 km west of Kut,” he said.
“The gunmen were on their way to Kut from Sadr city in Baghdad,” he added.
“Arms and ammunition, including Katyusha rockets, that have been prepared to conduct armed operations in Kut city were seized during the operation,” he noted.
Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
