Senior officer killed in Basra blast

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: A high-ranking police officer on Tuesday was killed in a blast that also wounded his driver in western Basra province.

“An improvised explosive device (IED) stuck to the vehicle of Col. Majeed al-Basri went off in al-Zubeir area, killing him and wounding his driver,” a security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The officer was a member of the internal border police.
