Weapons cache seized, U.S. vehicle devastated in Salah al-Din

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi police forces on Monday seized a “big” weapons and ammunition cache west of Tikrit city, while a U.S. vehicle on Sunday night was devastated in a roadside bomb attack in western al-Dalouiya district, according to police sources from Salah al-Din province.

“Relying on intelligence tips, police forces today conducted a raid operation in Ein al-Farass area, 35 km west of Tikrit city, and seized a big weapons and ammunition cache,” a police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Another police source said that “a roadside bomb went off during a late hour on Sunday night targeting a U.S. patrol at al-Dalouiya Bridge (90 km north of Baghdad), causing severe damage to the vehicle.”
Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad.
