16 arrested on terror charges in Diala

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Sixteen persons on Monday were arrested in Diala province on terror-related charges, according to a local police chief.

“During an early hour this morning, police forces captured 16 al-Qaeda in Iraq members, who are wanted by the judicial authorities in accordance with Article VI of the Terrorism Law,” Staff Maj. Gen. Abdelhussein al-Shamri told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
A large amount of ammunition was seized during the operation, the official noted.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
