BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Casualties from the suicide bombing that ripped through an Iraqi checkpoint in Baghdad’s al-Kadhemiya area earlier today have reached 114, according to Baghdad’s Operation Command (BOC).

“The final toll from Kadhemiya’s blast is 35 dead and 79 wounded,” said a spokesperson for the command, Maj. Gen. Qassem Ata.
Earlier today, Ata said that a woman wearing an explosives belt blew herself up at a joint checkpoint set up by army and police personnel in Kadhemiya, northern Baghdad, leaving many persons killed or wounded.
Most of the casualties are Iranians, the commander added.
