105 wanted persons captured in Basra

BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: A total 105 wanted persons, including seven foreigners, were captured on Sunday during a wide-scale security operation in different areas of Basra, the province’s police media office said.

“Policemen launched a wide-scale security campaign in different areas of the province, arresting 105 men wanted on criminal and terrorist charges, including seven foreigners,” the office told Aswat al-Iraq.

“The operation also resulted in the seizure of 52 stolen vehicles and motorbikes and a number of missiles,” the office said.

It did not indicate the nationalities of the seven foreigners or the number of missiles seized in the operation.

The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
