U.S. embassy investigates child’s death incident

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The U.S. embassy in Baghdad said on Tuesday that it is investigating the death of a child who was hit by one of its reconstruction teams’ vehicles in Nassiriya in southern Iraq.
“The vehicle of one of the reconstruction team’s employees hit a child on Monday afternoon in Nassiriya city,” the embassy said in a statement received by Aswat al-Iraq.
“The child was sent to a U.S. medical facility and died on his way, and a U.S embassy team will investigate the incident in coordination with the Iraqi officials,” it added.
The embassy expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as painful.
