Russian missile, Italian landmines seized in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A Russian-made highly-destructive missile and Italian landmines were seized in a search raid in some areas in Baghdad on Saturday, according to a statement by the Multi-National Force.
“Iraqi policemen, in coordination with the MNF troops, seized a highly-destructive missile that was Russian-made hidden inside concrete blocks in northern Baghdad,” read the MNF statement as received by Aswat al-Iraq.
“The raiding force also seized Italian-made landmines and military equipment and weapons as well as a hideout inside a house in al-Mansour neighborhood, western Baghdad, believed to be a lab for home-making improvised explosive devices,” the statement added.
“The operation was conducted in light of intelligence tips provided by a local resident,” it noted, not giving more details about the raid.
