Re-recruited Diala policemen affiliated with AQI - official

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Head of the security committee of Diala provincial council on Saturday said that the majority of the 600 dismissed policemen who have been re-recruited in the province’s police are elements of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI).

“Diala police command re-recruited 600 policemen who had been dismissed from service due to different reasons,” Saja Qadori (Shiite) told Aswat al-Iraq.

“Most of them are AQI’s members, and involved in killing and displacing crimes,” she said.

Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
