Ammo, explosives seized in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Security forces on Friday seized an amount of munitions and explosives in a search raid in southern al-Kut city, according to a source from Wassit police.
“The operation took place at al-Noumaniya suburb, 40 km southern Kut, based on intelligence tips,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“Thirty-nine mortar shells, 12 roadside bombs, four explosive devices and an amount of highly explosive TNT were seized during the operation,” he said.
Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
