BAGHDAD/Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Foreign Minister on Thursday discussed with Syrian FM the repercussions of the U.S. air strike to a Syrian border town.

“FM Hoshyar Zebari received a telephone call from to Syrian FM Waleed al-Mualim to discuss the consequences of U.S. airstrike to Syrian border town of al-Bu Kammal ,” said a Foreign Ministry statement received by Aswat al-Iraq.

“The two officials showed keenness to contain the crisis and defuse its political impact over the ties between the countries,” the announcement cited FM Zebari and FM al-Mualaim as saying..

Syria has said four U.S. helicopters struck the border village of al-Bu Kamal, killing eight people. Washington has refused to confirm the raid, which Iraq said targeted staging grounds used by militants infiltrating its borders.
