PM allocates $459,000 for families of killed, wounded Diala policemen

DIALA / Aswat al-Iraq: The Diala police department disbursed 513 million Iraqi dinars ($459,000) to the families of killed and wounded policemen in the province, according to a local police media source on Saturday.
“Diala police chief, Brig. Abdelhussein al-Shimari, today gave the sum to 160 families of killed and wounded policemen. The families of killed policemen were 137 while the wounded 23,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq.
“Each family has received 3.750 million Iraqi dinars ($3,351),” the source added.
After the fall of the former regime, Diala has been a main stage of killing or wounding policemen being targeted by armed groups, including al-Qaeda network, which used to wield control over the majority of the areas in the province.
Diala, whose capital city is Baaquba, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad.
