Key militia leader netted in Wassit

WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: Forces from the Tiger Squad in al-Kut on Monday arrested a “prominent leader” of a militia after raiding his home in the eastern part of the city, the squad commander said.
“Forces from the interior ministry’s Tiger Squad arrested a leading member of an armed militia after raiding his house in eastern Kut. The arrested man is one of the persons wanted by security authorities,” Maj. Aziz Latif al-Imara told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The captured man is charged with armed operations against security forces, murders and kidnappings,” Imara said, adding the arrest operation was in accordance with a prosecutor’s warrant.
Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
