Gunman killed in Kirkuk while planting bomb

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A gunman was killed when a roadside bomb that he was planting in a street in western Kirkuk went off, the police deputy commander of the city’s al-Arafa district said on Wednesday.
“A gunman today was killed when a roadside bomb that he was planting on the street that leads to Al-Amal Al-Shaabi neighborhood of al-Arafa district (western Kirkuk) went off,” Kameran Mohammed told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The explosion destroyed the gunman’s car that was parked nearby,” he added.
Mohammed did not mention further details.
The oil-rich city of Kirkuk lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
