26 wanted men arrested in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi security forces arrested 26 wanted and suspected gunmen in Baghdad in the past 24 hours, the official spokesman for the Baghdad operations command said on Wednesday.
“The forces arrested 22 wanted men and 4 suspected gunmen in separate areas of Baghdad in the last 24 hours,” General Qassem Atta told Aswat al-Iraq.
“The forces also defused 14 bombs and found amounts of weapons and ammunitions,” he added,
Meanwhile, Atta said that “a total of 87 displaced families returned to their houses in Baghdad.”
Since mid-February 2007, Iraqi security forces have been conducting a wide-scale security operation, codenamed Fardh al-Qanoon (Law Imposing) with the aim of restoring order to the capital.
