Iraqi army nabs 3 Qaeda-linked group gunmen in Ninewa

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi army on Tuesday arrested three al-Qaeda-linked group gunmen in Ninewa, a military source said.

“Iraqi army forces conducted a raid operation in Hassan Sham village, east Mosul, capturing three gunmen from the self-proclaimed Iraq’s Islamic state.”

The self-proclaimed Iraq’s Islamic state is mantra for a number of armed groups, al-Qaeda in Iraq is one of its major founders.

Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa, is considered by U.S. and Iraqi security official as the last bastion for al-Qaeda network in Iraq.
