Comprehensive crisis solution with Kurdish region reached
12/26/2012 9:54 PM

BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: The final touches for a comprehensive solution between the federal government and the Kurdish region, pointing that the final agreement will be signed next Sunday.

In a press conference held at the Defence Ministry, Minister Saadoun al-Dulaimi announced that the security committees between the two sides reached, through dialogue, a "comprehensive solution to the crisis".

He added that the joint ministerial committee will meet next Sunday in Arbil to sign the final agreement.

The minister did not clarify the means of solution of the crisis that erupted five weeks earlier through army concentrations on both sides.

President Jalal Talabani intervened to solve the crisis before the deterioration of his health.

The crisis erupted after the formation of Dijla Operations Command upon orders from Premier Nouri al-Maliki, in his capacity as the Commander of the Armed Forces, which matter was rejected by the Kurdish leadership as a move to control the area by force.
