NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: A military court sentenced the commander of the 3rd division of the Iraqi army to two months behind bars as he found guilty of corruption, a military source said on Monday.

 

"The military court in al-Karkh in Baghdad sentenced General Heini Abdullah Khoushnaw, commander of the 3rd division in west of Mosul, to two months in jail," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

"The sentence came in accordance to Article 42 of the Iraqi penal code as he manipulated the soldiers' salaries," he added, noting that the sentence was very light compared to similar charges.
