12/29/2012 10:04 PM

KARBALA/ Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi transport minister called Kuwait, today, to accept international arbitration to determine the effects of Mubarak terminal on Iraqi navigation.

Minister Hadi al-Ameri told Aswat al-Iraq that called Kuwait to refer the terminal question to specialized international experts to determine it is effects on Iraqi ports.

He expressed his conviction that the Kuwaiti terminal will "negatively affect Iraqi ports and navigation".

More than once, Minister Ameri stressed this point that the Kuwaiti port will affect Iraqi interests.

On 27 June, 2011, Iraq officially demanded Kuwait to temporarily stop the work in the terminal till determining the effects on Iraqi navigation rights, but Kuwaiti rejected this call as "having no legal base and the port is implemented on Kuwaiti territories".
