ARBIL / Aswart al-Iraq: The Leader of White al-Iraqiya Bloc, Hassan al-Alawi, has called for the “Independence of Iraq’s Kurdistan and the formation of a Kurdish State in northern Iraq,” Allawi said in a statement on Friday.
Allawi, in an interview with Aswat al-Iraq news agency, has attacked the critics the his statement, calling for “the independence of Kurdistan and the formation of a Kurdish State in northern Iraq,” accusing them with being “chauvinists and uneducated.”
“The Independence of Kurdistan does not mean the splitting of part of the Arab Nation, because Kurdistan is not part of the Arab Nation,” Allawi said.
Commenting on Allawi’s statement, the Spokeswoman of the White Iraqiya, Alia Nuseif, said that “Allawi’s statement represent him and does not reflect the opinion of our Bloc,” despite fact that Allawi is the Chairman of the White al-Iraqiya Bloc.
Allawi had called in a lecture, organized in Arbil by the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, on the Kurdistan government to announce “the formation of the Independent State of Kurdistan and to demand the right for self-determination.”
“The White al-Iraqiya’s line is part of the national project, defined in its electorate program which is based on Iraq’s unity and sovereignty,” Nuseif said, adding that “it would issue a statement on the said topic, condemning Allawi’s statement, because it does not represent the White al-Iraqiya Bloc.”
