KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Fifteen wanted men were arrested for plotting to implement terrorist attacks during the Lesser Bairam (eid) during a security operation in southwest of Kirkuk, a police source said. 

 

"A joint security force of Kirkuk Districts Police Department (KDPD), backed by army forces, waged early Monday a security operation in regions in Hueija and Riyadh districts in southwest of Kirkuk, until 10 AM, where they arrested 15 wanted men for plotting a terrorist attack during the Lesser Bairam," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

"The operation was launched in light of intelligence information," the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

 

Kirkuk lies 280 km northeast of Baghdad.
