BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The White Bloc announced on Saturday its support to the road map of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to tackle the disputed areas problem.

 

“The road map of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is wise and suitable to protect the disputed areas and to defuse the crisis between Baghdad and Arbil.” Aziz Sherief al-Mayahi, a leading figure of the WB, said in a statement released from his office on Saturday.

 

“Forming joint military forces to protect the disputed areas will be a good solution and will satisfy everyone and represents a roadmap to solve the security file in these areas,” he added.

 

The tensions between the two sides have been running high since Baghdad established a military command, named Dijla (Tigris) Operations Command, to cover the disputed areas in the provinces of Kirkuk, Diala and Salah al-Din.
