1/28/2013 2:49 PM

ANBAR/ Aswat al-Iraq: Police sources said here today that an armed attack targeted an army convoy south east Fallujah, but no reports were given on the casualties.

The source told Aswat al-Iraq that "a police unit tried to approach the military convoy, but no permission was given to approach them in order not to disclose the casualties".

The source added that the army forces are trying to incite Fallujah people through roaming in different places in the town, which led to increasing security tensions.

Since last Friday, Fallujah city lives in public turmoil due to the incident that took place and resulted in tens of casualties.

Since 22 December 2012, Anbar province witnessed massive demonstrations and sit-in, in addition to Ninewa, Salahal-Din, Diala, Kirkuk and Baghdad demanding the release of innocent detainees and prisoners, while others called for toppling Maliki's government.

Ramadi, center of the province, lies 110 km west of the capital, Baghdad.
