Khalid al-Assady reads oath as Parliament Member, replacing Khudhier al-Khuzae, who got Vice-President’s post
6/16/2011 2:35 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Legislature Khalid al-Assady has said on Thursday that his National Coalition had chosen him to read the constitutional oath, as a Parliament member, replacing former Legislature, Khudhier al-Khuzae, who held the post of Iraq’s Vice-President.

“There is a law to replace the Parliament members and I was nominated by the National Coalition for this post, instead of Legislature Khudhier al-Khuzae, who became Vice-President, and I had read the constitutional oath, hoping that we shall succeed to represent our people,” Assady told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He said that the Parliament’s session on Thursday had included the voting on the Committee of Experts to select members of the High Human Rights Commission, along with inviting the Lord-Mayor of Baghdad to present his Mayoralty’s services during the 100-day period, assigned by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.

He said that the Parliament’s Thursday session was scheduled to invite Iraq’s Foreign Minister and the Trade Minister to follow up the background and developments of the case of Mubarak Port on the Arab Gulf with the State of Kuwait.
