Iran to increase investments in Kurdistan
ARBIL/ Aswat al-Iraq: Iranian Deputy President called for utilizing investment opportunities in Kurdistan region, particularly with the private sector.
Kurdish premier confirmed the increase of trade exchange from $3 billion in 2006 to $8 billion this year.
During the First Kurdish-Iranian Trade Conference held here today, which was attended by Iranian Deputy President Ali Saeed Lo, Kurdish region Premier Njirvan Barzani and more than 100 Iranian investors and heads of companies from both sides.
The conference, the first of its kind between the two sides, is aiming to develop bilateral economic and trade relations and expanding the levels of trade exchange between the two sides.
Iranian sources reported that more than 6 million Iranian visitors entered Iraq during the last seven months; about 300.000 entered the Kurdish region.
Iranian ambassador Hassan Dana'I Fer disclosed that 73% of Iranian trade with Iraq goes to the Kurdish region, while the rest to other parts of the country.
