2/25/2011 9:49 PM

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: Clashes in Kirkuk on Friday left 23 policemen and a correspondent for a Kurdish TV channel wounded, according to a medic in the northern Iraq city.

“Twenty-three policemen were wounded when protesters pelted stones at them during demonstrations in the city,” the medic, who is at the Kirkuk Public Hospital, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“A correspondent for a Kurdish TV channel was also wounded in the incidents,” he added.

The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
