KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Citizens of Karbala province urged on Saturday politicians to solve their problems and patch up differences just like Sunnis and Shiites who are unified and starting the fasting month of Ramadan at the same day.
“This is the first time Ramdan starts at the same day between Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq after decades , during which Sunnis celebrate Ramadan one day before Shiites,” Saad Abdulrahman, a citizen, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, urging politicians to work to unify their stances as Shiites and Sunnis fast at the same day.
For his part, director of the media department in Karbala, Salem al-Zubaidi, said “ It’s the first time to see Muslims and Shiites fast at the same day, I think it’s a good initiative for the Islamic unity in Iraq”.
“I hope that both Sunni and Shiite endowments in Iraq to start working together and, as we need such stances which serve Islam and Iraq,” he added.
Hussein al-Hassnawi, a cleric, criticized some media, asserting that Islam has nothing to do with politics, mainly in Iraq, after the topple of the dictatorship.
Ghleb al-Mahmoudi, a citizen, expressed hope that such stances would positively affect politics and politicians in Iraq.
