WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: An amount, estimated at 40 million Iraqi dinars, have been stolen in an attack on the house of a traffic police officer in the city of Kut, the center of southern Iraq’s Wassit Province on Wednesday, a Wassit Police source reported.

“Three unknown gunmen have carried out an armed attack on the house of a Wassit Traffic Police officer, with a lt-Brigadier rank on Wednesday morning, stealing 40 million dinars,” the police source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He said the police had cordoned the area of the house and began investigation and search for the armed attackers, who had escaped to an unknown destination.
