KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: The Karbala Police Department warned Shiite visitors on Monday of eating or drinking anything from unknown sources, noting that it has information of a plot by terrorist groups to present poisoned food to the visitors.
"Intelligence information revealed that terrorist groups are planning to present poisoned food and beverages to Shiite visitors," Colonel Ahmad Mohammad al-Hassnawi, Karbala police media director, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Security forces had arrested three weeks ago two gangs in north of Karbala before selling poisoned food and sweets.
Karbala lies 108 km southwest of Baghdad.
