Parliament bears responsibility for the Journalists' Law - Observatory

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The head of the Press Freedoms Observatory said today that the Iraqi parliament bears full responsibility if the Journalists' Protection Law does not meet the ambitions of workers in the media organs. 

Hadi Jalou Ma'ri told Aswat al-Iraq that the "parliament approved the Journalists' protection Law, believing it to be fully vocational and ethical, but it will bear the responsibility if it does not meet the ambitions of journalistic work in Iraq." 

He added that many discussions and amendments took place, pointing out that the right to have further amendments after the endorsement of the law, since Iraq is having a democratic system. 

The Iraqi parliament approved today, through a majority vote, the Journalists' Protection Law.
