Ki-moon, Zebari discuss UN Chapter VII mandate

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zebari discussed with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon the details of Iraq quitting from UN Security Council's Chapter VII mandate for the report to be submitted mid-December 2012.
 
The report is expected to be submitted on 17 December, 2012.
 
 
In a ministerial statement, both sides stressed the importance of Iraqi-Kuwaiti cooperation in this regard.
 
On the other hand, the Iraqi side called for UN assistance for getting appropriate share of water resources, as well as the future work of UNAMI in Iraq, the statement added.
 
Secretary General Moon held talks with President Jalal Talabani, Premier Nouri al-Maliki and Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi.
 
Topics related to Syrian crisis, the needs of Syrian refugees in Iraq, the Palestinian question, the upcoming Iraqi elections and protection of human rights were also tackled.
