NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: Thousands of people have demonstrated in central Mosul’s al-Ahrar (Liberals) Square on Sunday, being the 16th consecutive day for such demonstrations, rejecting the extension of the U.S.
troops presence in Iraq and other demands, a Ninewa Province’s security source said.

“About 6,000 demonstrators have gathered in al-Ahrar Square on Sunday, calling on non-extension of the U.S. troops presence in Iraq, release of prisoners and carrying out reforms by the Iraqi government,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Al-Ahrar Square in central Mosul had witnessed sit-in and other demonstrations that entered their 16th day on Sunday, whilst Arab tribes from other Iraqi provinces joined the demonstrations, announcing refusal of the extension of the U.S. forces presence in Iraq and other demands.

Mosul, the center of Ninewa Province, is 405 kg to the north of Baghdad.
