11/22/2012 4:25 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq underlined its desire to strengthen relations with Canada in various domains, valuing Canadian government's stances in hosting Iraqi opposition during the former regime.

This came during a meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Marc Guzdki, with whom he discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations.

The Canadian diplomat underlined his country's keenness to develop ties with Iraq and to open a complete diplomatic mission in Baghdad.

He noted that the Canadian foreign minister will visit Iraq soon.
