BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: At least 8 persons, including 4 policemen, have been injured, in a booby-trapped car blast on the main road passing through northern Baghdad’s Kasra district on Monday, a Baghdad security source said.
“A booby-trapped car, parked on the roadside in northern Baghdad’s Kasra district, had blown off early on Monday, wounding 8 persons, among them 4 policemen and causing damage to a number of police and civilian cars,” the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Northern Baghdad’s Aaathamiya district had witnessed a series of attacks, one of them against al-Sahwa (Awakening) forces, close to Imam al-Aatham mosque, killing 2 of its members and wounding 2 others, whilst another attack was targeted against an Army checkpoint close to al-Nu’man Hospital, killing a soldier and wounding another, along with a third attack against an Army checkpoint in al-Maghrib street, killing one soldier.
The Iraqi capital of Baghdad had witnessed a security deterioration over the past few days, with attacks targeted against Army, police, state officials and university professors, launched by unknown gunmen, whilst doubts have been spread about their links with security parties, involved in the attacks, taking place at a time when of the government’s failure to appoint security cabinet ministers.
