KARBALA / Aswat al-Iraq: Scores of pensioners went to the streets in Karbala on Friday demanding the issuing of a pension law.
"The protest came to send a message to the officials and the parliamentarians, urging them to speed up enacting a pension law, which concerns a wide range of Iraqis," Hussein al-Tarfi, a pensioner, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"They demanded to raise their pensions to cope with the current increase in the prices," he added.
Karbala lies 108 km southwest of Baghdad.
