KIRKUK/ Aswat al-Iraq: Security sources said here today that deputy governor escaped assassination attempt by two explosives targeting his convoy south west of the province.
The source told Aswat al-Iraq that two bombs were planted on the side of the road, 45 km south west Kirkuk, targeting his convoy.
Deputy governor Rakan Saeed escaped death, but one of his bodyguards was wounded as well as material losses in one of the vehicles.
Kirkuk lies 280 km north east the capital, Baghdad.
It is one of the disputed areas between Baghdad and Arbil that witnesses semi-continued violent actions directed against the security forces and civilians, alike.
