BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Baghdad Operations Command spokesman Qassim Atta denied reports that security forces tortured the four detained activists who were arrested in Tahreer Square two weeks ago.
The four activists were released yesterday (Tuesday) by a guaranteed bail.
Atta told Aswat al-Iraq that "they were not tortured.
I visited them in their detention quarter.
The were arrested for having forged identity cards, not as demonstrators."
The four activists held a press conference today during which they stated they were tortured.
"We were told not to publicize the torture, and were moved to another place.
We later found out it was Al-Muthanna airport", the elaborated.
Iraqi security forces arrested four demonstrators in Tahreer square.
They were Ali Al-Jaff, Mu'ayad Faisal, Ahemd Al-Baghdadi and Ali Abdul Khaliq.
