BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Press Syndicate condemned on Thursday the assassination of Journalist Hamid Rashid Abbas last night in Baghdad by armed group.
The syndicate called on authorities to take all necessary measures to arrest the perpetrators, who killed the journalist in al-Shurta al-Khamesa region in Baghdad, and to refer them to court.
It urged authorities to put an end to the series of attacks against journalists and to secure them while on duty.
The Iraqi press Syndicate had said last December that five journalists have been killed in Iraq in 2012 by armed groups raising the number of media men who have been killed since 2003  to 373.
