Police officer gunned down in al-Shurqat

SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq: A police officer was killed late Thursday by gunmen in al-Shurqat district, a police source said on Friday.
“Unknown gunmen attacked a police officer driving a civilian car near his house in al-Shurqat district, killing him on the spot,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Police forces started a crackdown operation to arrest the killers,” he added, without giving more details.
Al-Shurqat is 100 km north of Tikrit, the capital of Salah al-Din, which lies 175 km north of Baghdad.
