BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The oil ministers of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will hold a meeting next week in Vienna amid fierce competition between Iraq and Kuwait to win the chairmanship, Kuwaiti news agency reported.
"There are four candidates competing for the post; former oil minister Thamer al-Ghadban, Saudi Majed al-Manief, who was the kingdom's governor to OPEC and two more candidates from Iran and Ecuador," the agency added.
OPEC Secretary General contributes in mapping out the 12-country organization's policy.
Libya's Abdullah al-Badri is the current secretary general of OPEC.
His term ends as 2012 wraps up.
