METRO denounces pressures on NRT Station
BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: Metro center for defending journalists' rights denounced the pressures imposed against Kurdish NRT Satellite Satiation.
The station is the main source for news for Kurdish people and has the greatest audience in Kurdistan.
The center called Kurdistan government to investigate the threats voiced against the station and protecting the lives of its journalists.
In a statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, the center added that some of the journalists working in the Kurdish station stated that they are under continued threats and pressures, including the demands to close the station or selling it to "a certain" circle, otherwise their lives will be in danger.
The center called the Kurdish government to protect the lives of the journalists, expressing rejection to any pressures and threats committed against the station.
Metro center is an independent organization defending the rights of the journalists in Kurdistan region and represents Journalists' Freedom Observatory, centered in the capital, Baghdad.
