NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: An Iraqi soldier and a women have been killed in 2 attacks in northern Iraq’s city of Mosul on Friday, a security source reported.

“A group of unknown gunmen have opened fire against an Iraqi Army checkpoint in northern Mosul’s Cahira (Cairo) district on Firday, killing a soldier and fleeing to an unknown destination,” the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

In another incident, a woman was killed by sporadic shooting in southern Mosul’s al-Maamoun disrtrict, the security source added, giving no further details.

Mosul, the center of Ninewa Province, is 405 km to the north of Baghdad.
