PM behind resignation of Chairman of Integrity Commission - MP
9/10/2011 3:37 PM

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Independent Legislature of the Iraqi Parliament, Sabah al-Saedy, has charged Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki with being behind the resignation of the Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Rahim al-Ugeily, from his post, because he had demanded Ugeily to what he had described as “opening unrealistic integrity dossiers.”

“The reasons that made the Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Rahim al-Ugeily, to resign from his post, had been his refusal to open unrealistic corruption, false and fabricated dossiers against political personalities, I announce two of their names only – Jawad al-Bolany and Ahmed al-Chalaby,” Saedy told a news conference, attended by Aswat al-Iraq news agency, charging that “the demand had been presented by the ruling party.”

Saedy asked: “Why should the Prime Minister demand Judge Rahim al-Ugeily to open fabricated dossiers against certain political personalities? ..
Are they competing him on something, or what?”

“These are facts the Iraqi people must know,” Saedy, Member of the Parliament’s Integrity Committee said, adding that “there had been several reasons that made Ugeily present his resignation, including one related to his discovery of one of the corruptors, a member of the ruling party.”

“Such authoritative practices by the ruling party do not belong to the principles of al-Daawa Party,” he said, warning that “Iraq is heading towards the establishment of an individual dictatorship and not a party dictatorship,” expecting that “Maliki would dissolve al-Daawa Party in the nearest time he would find suitable.”
