Shahristani meets Ninewa tribal sheikhs, demonstrators absent

NINEWA/ Aswat al-Iraq: Chairman of the ministerial committee on implementing the demands of the demonstrators met today with Ninewa tribal sheikhs, with complete absence of demonstrators'' representatives.

The demonstrators' representatives announced yesterday they will boycott the meeting of today.

Aswat al-Iraq correspondent reported that the meeting was held with the presence of security commanders of the province and some member of the provincial council.

The visit was supposed to be yesterday, but it was postponed for climatic reasons, according to security sources here.

Shahristani said that he came to hear and implement the demands of the demonstrators, according to its legal capacities, "but other matters connected with Questioning and Justice and Terrorism Law should be referred to the parliament".

He added that the government released about 4000 detainees with expectation to issue an amnesty for simple case, "but who was captured for terrorism will not be released".
