BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqiya bloc MP Khalid al-Alwani expressed astonishment that poverty percentage in Iraq reached to 37%, calling the government to adopt anti-poverty strategy.

 

 

In a press statement today, he called the government to provide work opportunities and eradicate unemployment.

 

 

He added that southern provinces have the greatest poverty shares that reached to 48-56%, while others have less than 10%, as witnessed in the Kurdish region.

 

 

Governmental committee announced earlier that the poverty percentage reached to 37% and some of the Iraqi population is living below poverty line.
