Army fire into air to disperses protest in Mosul
1/7/2013 2:01 PM

NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: An army force on Monday shot in air to disperse the protest started a few days ago in central Mosul.

"A number of protesters headed this afternoon to al-Ahrar square in central Mosul to continue their sit-in, but they were surprised by army forces shooting in air to disperse them," a number of citizens told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

On Saturday, security forces sealed off the al-Ahrar square in central Mosul, preventing protestors from entering it because they "did not receive official authorizations", while Ninewa Governor Atheel al-Nujaifi opened it for them, underlining they got authorizations from the local council.
