BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Libyan government has decided to send a special envoy to Iraq to discuss bilateral relations and the Libyan detainees in Iraq file.
The Libyan Foreign Ministry issued a statement yesterday calling on the Iraqi government to postpone the execution of a Libyan detainee Adel al-Shaalani to allow for more diplomatic talks between the two countries to discuss the subject in light of brotherly relations.
“The detainee’s family told the foreign ministry that he will he executed on Sunday,” the statement added.
“The Libyan government respects the Iraqi law and Judicial system, however it urges the postponement of the verdict for further negotiations,” it added.
