BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq: United Nations office in Iraq called the international community to finance humanitarian needs of Syrian refugees in Iraq.
In a statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, the UN office announced that high ranking UN delegation visited the Syrian refugees' camp in Duhuk province to check their situation and needs.
The latest figures on UN Refugees Commission said that there are 70.000 Syrian refugees, 45.000 of them are in Duhuk province in the Kurdish region.
Since the beginning of this year, more than 1000 Syrians are entering Iraq, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon fleeing the violence raging in Syria nowadays.
The United Nations needs, promptly, $86 million to assist the Syrian refugees till June, 2013.
