BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Basra police arrested 14 persons wanted on different charges, police sources said here today. 

The Police Media Office reported to Aswat  al-Iraq that many light weapons and cars were seized during a number of police raids in various areas throughout of the province. 

Some of the arrested are suspected of acts of terrorism, as well as being wanted on criminal charges. 

The seized weapons including pistols and Kalashnikov machine guns, in addition to cars without having authentic papers. 

Basra city, the center of the province, lies 590 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
