Nujaifi shouldered responsibility to Maliki in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the armed forces, pointing out that the current demonstrations "reflect the unjust and neglect situations against these cities".

He called the demonstrators to "self-control", confirming his continued support for their just demands.

On the other side, Barzani "severely denounced" the killings and described them as "violations against the Iraqi constitution".

He called to take the utmost measures against the attackers, hoping that the demonstrators will continue their peaceful moves despite the incidents.

Sadrist leader Muqtada al-Sadr denounced the killings, but stressed the continuation of peaceful demonstrations.

He called the army and security personnel to "self-control" and "protection of the demonstrators".
